Scott Johnson is head of Wheelhouse Waters, LLC, d/b/a SuperSplash USA. He is the CEO of Wheelhouse Ventures, a Frisco, Texas based private investment firm. He is Co-Founder and CEO of ZapStand, an AED medical technology company. In addition, Johnson serves as an Operating Partner for Wolverine Interests and previously served as President of Amerrock Products, an insulation manufacturer.
In 2023 Johnson started Wheelhouse Marinas, LLC and purchased two marinas in Tennessee totaling more than 600 wet slips.
He has Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for Omni Hotels, being for responsible worldwide real estate investments for Omni. At Omni he was responsible for more than $500,000,000 in real estate acquisition and development including the acquisition of the famed La Mansion Hotel and Watermark Hotel in San Antonio, the development of the Omni San Diego Hotel and Condominiums, and the development of the $210 million Omni Fort Worth Hotel and Condominiums.
Scott Johnson served on the City Council in Frisco, Texas (Pop. 220,000) from 2008-2017.
He is a member of the Texas Business Leadership Council - a 100 member CEO organization dedicated to Texas' prosperity. Additionally, he served for nine years on the Board of Directors for the Texas Economic Development Corporation (TexasOne) having been appointed by Governor Rick Perr.
Johnson was named to both the Dallas Business Journal's and the Collin County News Press "40 under 40" list of community leaders.
Scott Johnson is a 4-time IRONMAN triathlon finisher and is the first person known to have completed the IRONMAN World Championships in Hawaii with an artificial lumbar disc. His inspiring story following four back surgeries was profiled by profile NBC in 2010.
Johnson has served two U.S. Presidents (President Bush 43, President Trump) as Lead Advance Man and press aide, traveling to 14 states and coordinating all aspects of media, communications, events, operations, and travel for the President, his family, and surrogates.
David Busch is responsible for the SuperSplash USA's financial performance, guest satisfaction, park expansion, new development, company culture and management development. Mr. Busch has been responsible for the development of 12 greenfield theme and waterpark projects and the turnaround of 10 family entertainment centers and waterparks. No person has built and operated more family waterparks than Mr. Busch.
A native Missourian and graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, Mr. Busch began his career with the Lamar Hunt organization in 1972 and was Vice President of Hunt Midwest Entertainment (d/b/a Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun) when he resigned in 1985 to start his own venture. He has developed and operated parks in Missouri, California, Arizona, Texas, Hawaii and China. Mr. Busch has 40 years of experience in owning, developing, and operating 22 successful water parks, theme parks and family entertainment centers nationally and internationally.
The numerous family parks he has started or managed have a current market value of over $200 million. His companies have employed more than 100,000 young people since 1972. Mr. Busch has served on numerous boards including VP of Kansas City Convention Bureau, VP of the Kansas City Philharmonic, founding board member of the Clay County (MO) Convention Bureau, founding board member of Faith Based Amusement Association, Chairman of Youth for Christ-Sacramento, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, church elder and many other civic and charitable organizations.
He is the author of the six-book series Values and Virtues, Timeless Tales for Life’s Journey, which focuses on character and moral development of young people. He resides in Northern California with his wife Julie and is fortunate to have his three children and five grandchildren nearby.
Bob Pena is one of the most experienced and talented leaders in the aquatic industry. Bob has owned two separate businesses, in addition to being responsible for the financial and operational success of the world's first waterpark, Big Surf-Tempe, AZ. He knows the hard work and wisdom it takes to run a successful operation.
He has spent over 30 years as the general manager of Big Surf Waterpark in Tempe, AZ. Built in 1969, its wave pool was the size of four football fields boasting surfing waves of four-feet high. The park was officially closed in October of 2021 and the land was sold for development of the ever-expanding Phoenix Metroplex. Bob was responsible for entertaining nearly 6,000,000 guests and trained thousands of young people to treat the park’s guests with dignity and respect. With extremely limited resources, Bob was responsible for increasing the park’s annual attendance to nearly 150,000 guests and maintaining the facility in pristine condition.
Bobby Medlin, CPA, is the CEO of Bobby Medlin CPA Group, a business advisory firm, which he founded in 1987. Bobby, along with thirteen team members, works with select businesses and their owners to make their lives better through strategic tax, accounting, and business advisory services.
Bobby Medlin CPA Group was named The Best Small Firm for Technology by Accounting Today and was presented The Innovation Award by Thomson Reuters, recognizing for its innovations and initiative in growing his company.
Bobby is a long-time member of The RenewGroup, a global community of accounting firms, where he serves as a Resident Firm Advisor, assisting other firms with enhancing their business model while improving their work-life balance.
Bobby graduated from the University of Missouri and currently resides on his family farm in Moniteau County. Bobby is a member of the Circle of Excellence, a regional think-tank and advisory group advising on agricultural issues in the Midwest. Bobby assisted drafting legislation for Missouri’s Beginning Farmer Tax Deduction
Bobby is a co-owner of Buttonwood Farm, a business which produces locally-grown, fresh poultry, eggs, and produce through a network of family-owned farms. Buttonwood Farm supplies wholesome products to retailers in St. Louis, Kansas City, and throughout Missouri under the Buttonwood Farm, Martin Farm, and Eat Here St. Louis brands.
Bobby, and his wife Christina, have two daughters and three grandchildren. At Freshwater Church in Jefferson City, Bobby serves as deacon of First Impressions, as deacon of International Missions, as a Life Group leader. Bobby also currently serves on the Moniteau County R-V School Board of Education in Latham, Missouri.
Lindsay Perry is the General Manager of SuperSplash USA and is responsible for the day-to-day activities at the park. She was formerly General Manager of Big Surf, where she started in 2004 when at age 15.
Upon graduation, she joined Phillips Van Heusen as a sales associate and was promoted to Supervisor in early 2007 and was in leadership with the company until 2015.
In 2016, Lindsay returned to Big Surf where her duties included retail sales, group sales, personnel, IT and even repair and maintenance.
In 2022 she was named GM of Big Surf responsible for all aspects of the operation of the park. Her certifications include: Certified Pool Operator, Red Cross Lifeguard management and first aid, Ambassador for Water Safety, and ServSafe Food Certifications, with more to come.
Her enthusiasm and leadership skills are on full display at SuperSplash as evidenced by the “can-do” attitude of the park’s staff, the quality and cleanliness of the park grounds and attractions, and the park’s track record as being one of the safest waterparks in America.
Matt Lowney, with over 25 years' experience in the automotive, hospitality and entertainment industries, is one of the most accomplished corporate and leisure sale marketing executives in the family entertainment industry.
Matt has served as the business development executive for Bondurant School of Racing, Wet N' Wild-Arizona, Big Surf Waterpark and a number of hospitality properties.
His enthusiasm and persistence is boundless as evidenced by his track record of creating multi million revenues for every company where he has been employed.
His most recent stint at Big Surf resulted in his creation of concerts, special events, and Farmer's Markets that accounted for over 50% of the park's revenue through his efforts to schools, churches, companies and other groups.
At SuperSplash he will head the all-important season pass and group sales areas as well as all digital, print and electronic advertising and promotion.
Dan Parkes, President and Founder of Western WaterFeatures, began working with David Busch in 1988 in the redevelopment of at Waterworld USA/Sacramento. The two have jointly developed waterparks in San Francisco, Hawaii, Sacramento and Mississippi.
Over the years Dan has built over 1,000 water parks and aquatic centers throughout the United States, including exotic pools and water features at the top resorts in Hawaii.
In addition, he is the go-to designer and pool builder for high-end residential pools in Northern California and Lake Tahoe. His company is the premier aquatic feature builder in the Western United States
Rick Bastrup, President of R&R Designs, is responsible for the re-theming and rebranding of SuperSplash USA. He is a living legend in the family entertainment industry. He has designed literally hundreds of parks, themed environments, movie sets and resorts from Florida to South Korea and from Hollywood to Hawaii. Among his credits are the $120m MGM Grand Theme Park, the "Jaw's Experience" at Universal Studios, the Ninja roller coaster at Magic Mountain, Movieland Wax Museums and over 30 significant projects that millions of fun-seekers have experienced and enjoyed.
Rick is the winner of the most prestigious honor in the amusement park industry, the Gold Key, given to the most innovative designer in the field. Rick was destined to be a theme and waterpark designer, having grown up next to Disneyland in Anaheim. His father, In 2023, Riverdale Press published Rick's biography, "The Adventures of a Theme Park Designer" which chronicles many of the amazing stories he has created.
In addition to his giftedness in the design and creative fields, he has been a reserve officer for the Anaheim Police Department for over 30 years and serves the community as a counselor for families and children who find themselves in abusive environments
For 25 years Darin Keim served as President of the Board and retired General Manager of Big Surf waterpark.
His leadership over the years focused on enhancing guest experiences, ensuring safety, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Darin's dedication to his community has also allowed Big Surf to provide a safe and fun working environment for over 2,000 local youth who were trained by Darin.
He was instrumental in establishing Missouri’s first rider's safety certification laws. For 17 years he has been an active member and office of the Lake of the Ozarks Convention and Visitor's Bureau for 17 years. Additionally, he has served on the Lake Area Council of Local Governments and is a recipient of the Partners in Tourism award for his notable contribution to the local and state tourism industry.
Darin was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his service in the United States Army during his tour with the 1st Cavalry Division in Operation Desert Storm. He is involved with several local non-profits including Kid's Harbor and Camp Wonderland
